Recently there seems to have been some confusion about the purpose of this website. If you've come here seeking help for a college prep course, you're probably in the wrong place (unless you need something to listen to between study sessions). In which case you should probably stick around for a while, sample a couple of tracks from the latest Super 5 Thor release and mingle in the lounge.Gazelle is finally out and available on-line. Get your copy today. We link to CD Now because we've received very good service from them in the past and their prices are reasonable. Plus many of you have been asking where you can buy Thor recordings. Now you have no excuse. Go ahead and charge it to Manny.
Speaking of Manny, he's an active participant in the lounge. Here's his latest commentary. Hopefully it will clear up any confusion about the purpose of this site.:
Wow. I leave for a couple of months, I get back, and everything is cattywompus! Confused math students, pissed-off homeboys. Not that we mind, but...Still On-Line: Super 5 Thor's first and only live performance is still on KCRW's web page. The band performed songs from their debut album on Tricia Halloran's Brave New World last year. This is the website for a band called Super 5 Thor. We're a four-piece outfit, spread out across the US. We have put out two albums in the last two years ("Ford" and "Gazelle"), released on the Echostatic/Spacebaby label.
I guess our sound can be labelled as 2-chord lo-fi pop, we've been compared to VU, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive, Low, Galaxy 500, Spiritualized and it's even been said (here's my favorite quote), "If you threw Beck, Syd Barrett and Wayne Kramer into a blender and hit 'puree', you might approximate this sound."
We don't perform live very much, due to the fact that we live in different states, and, oh yeah, we're from outer space.
Any other questions? Carry on...
Oh, by the way... Buy our album.
